Decans are simply the 3 divisions of a Zodiacal Sign.
This is done to pinpoint which period of time a planetís influence may be felt in a Sign.
The first part is the 1st Decan, the middle part is the 2nd Decan and the last part is the 3rd Decan.
As you can see, there is nothing to it...
Each Zodiacal Sign is divided into 30 degrees.
The first 10 degrees correspond to the 1st Decan, the 10 degrees in the middle belong to 2nd and the last 10 degrees are consequently in the 3rd Decan.
For example, if a planet is nearing the 15th Degree of a Zodiacal Sign, that heavenly body is in the Signís 2nd Decan.

Like the number of months in our Solar calendar, there are twelve Astrological Signs. However, each Sign does not begin on the first day of each month, but around the 20th, give or take 2 or 3 days depending upon the month. Take note: this day can change from year to year, depending on the Sunís journey through of the Zodiacal band. This explains why some people are unsure of which Zodiac Sign they belong, as they were born on the Cusp of two Signs. The answer is determined through the precise time of birth.
The Astrological months are as follows:
The Aries Sign = the Sunís visit is from
March 21 to April 20 (approximately).
The Taurus Sign = the Sunís visit is from

The Gemini Sign = the Sunís visit is from

Please rememberÖ and I insistÖ that these twelve (12) annual divisions only reveal very general information. Each one of us is unique! All that we have in common with our Signís "brothers and sisters" are the Sunís position and our birth at the same time of year. The Ascendant and the location of the planets at birth, are different for each person. VoilaÖ notre individualitť! A serious Astrological analysis is based on a Natal Chart. This small astronomical graph is essential; it is basically a snapshot of the heavens at the moment of our birth. It indicates the exact position of the Sun and the Moon, as well as the eight known planets in our Solar System. If you have never yet had your Birth Chart drawn up, now is the time! It is an exercise in psychologyÖan interpretation of oneís character, indicating its strengths and weaknesses, in addition to forecasting future possibilities.
